Why Have a ‘No Trespassing’ Sign – and Form

See below to download a free copy of this sign.
Want to protect your property against trespassers? There are TWO steps you need to take.
One is to post “NO TRESPASSING” signs where they can be seen by anyone entering or approaching your property.
But you also should file a “No Trespass Authorization Form“ with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Without a current authorization form on file, the LAPD cannot arrest a trespasser; they can only tell them to leave.
The wording of your No Trespassing sign needs to include some specific language: “This Property Closed To The Public. No Entry Without Permission. L.A.M.C. Sec. 41.24.”
(Dixie Canyon Neighborhood Watch offers a free downloadable “No Trespassing” sign; just print it out and post it.)
The Trespass Arrest Authorization form states that you are the owner or agent of the property, and that you authorize the LAPD to enter the property and enforce Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 41.24, by arresting anyone on the property who is not a lawful resident, guest or visitor.
In California, trespassers can be charged with an infraction, a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the circumstances.
